Residential Support Specialist

At Step Above, our Residential Support Specialists (RSSs) provide hands-on, compassionate support to individuals working toward stability, recovery, and independent living. RSSs play a critical role in assisting clients with daily structure, skill-building, and maintaining progress within our behavioral health and substance use programs.

Our RSSs work closely with clients in residential and community-based settings, offering guidance, supervision, and encouragement throughout their recovery journey. They help reinforce treatment goals by supporting healthy routines, promoting accountability, and ensuring a safe and structured environment.

RSSs are trained to assist individuals in developing essential life skills, managing daily responsibilities, and navigating challenges related to mental health and substance use. They also collaborate with clinicians, therapists, and case managers to ensure consistent, coordinated care.

At Step Above, our RSSs are more than support staff—they are mentors, motivators, and advocates who help clients build confidence and take meaningful steps toward long-term wellness and independence.
